BELOIT, Wis. - The Beloit College Volleyball team hosted the Dominican University Stars for their second straight home match this week. The Buccaneers (1-6, 0-0 MWC) were swept in straight sets by the Stars, but fought tough in all three falling 17-25, 20-25 and 17-25. The Stars (5-5, 0-1 NACC) and Bucs each had 16 errors but DU tallied 34 kills while Beloit just 24.
The Buccaneers put together some of their best rallies this evening, forcing the Stars to play scrappy and on their toes. Beloit was led by
McKayla "Maka" Simao (Sparta, Wis.),
Kierra Rayne Hoover (Albuquerque, New Mexico),
Camille Ledoux (Saint-Liboire, Quebec, Canada) and
Selin Tufte (Clarkdale, AZ). Simao had a game high 19 digs, keeping the Bucs alive on countless occasions. Hoover led the attack for Beloit with six kills and three blocks. Ledoux tallied two service aces, four blocks and four kills. Finally, Tufte lit up the box score, recording nine assists, eight digs, five kills and two aces.
The Buccaneers face two familiar foes on Saturday when they head up to Milwaukee and MSOE for the MSOE Tri-Match. Beloit will play the Raiders at noon and the Red Hawks at 2 pm. All matches will take place in the Kern Center in downtown Milwaukee.
