MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Beloit College Volleyball team traveled up to Milwaukee today for the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) Tri match. The Buccaneers faced off with the hosts, the Raiders and MWC foe Ripon. The Buccaneers went 0-2 on the day.
Match 1 vs MSOE - L, 0-3 (23-25, 9-25, 13-25)
After nearly winning the first set, the Buccaneers struggled to regroup in sets two and three.
McKayla "Maka" Simao (Sparta, Wis.) and
Selin Tufte (Clarkdale, AZ) led Beloit statistically. Simao recorded 12 digs with eight kills. Tufte added nine assists, two blocks and one service ace.
Siddalee Meyers had her name scattered around the box score as well. She tallied 11 digs, two kills and two assists.
Match 2 vs Ripon - L, 0-3 (17-25, 22-25, 20-25)
In their second match of the day, the Buccaneers did a better job of bouncing back. After dropping set one 17-25, they fought hard in sets two and three but ultimately fell short. Simao had a season-high 21 digs for the Bucs. She also hammered down six kills. Tufte added another nine digs to her daily total and added eight digs. Tufte,
Emily Ortiz (Aurora, IL) and
Lizzie Paschal (Holbrook, AZ) split the setting duties, with Tufte and Ortiz each recording nine assists. Ortiz also led the Bucs with three service aces.
The Buccaneers return to Beloit and Flood Arena on Tuesday, September, 24th to host Rockford University and Coe College in a tri match. Coe and Rockford will play at 3, Beloit and Coe at 5 and Beloit and Rockford will wrap up the night at 7 pm.
