BELOIT, Wis. - After a scoreless first half, the Buccaneers struck first in this evening's match up with the Eagles of Benedictine University. The Buccaneers (0-2-1, 0-0-0) took a 1-0 lead in the 68th minute. Just three minutes later, the Eagles (0-2-1, 0-0-0) scored the equalizer and after ninety minutes, the match ended in a 1-1 tie.
The Buccaneers' offense was consistent, controlling the momentum for a majority of the game. Beloit recorded 14 total shots, seven in each half, with nine shots being on goal. They out shot Benedictine by three.
Megan Thompson (Clarendon Hills, Ill.) recorded a game-high seven shots and was responsible for the Bucs' lone goal. Thompson now accounts for three of the four goals scored by Beloit this season.
Maya Betzler (College Place, Wash.) had another solid sheet, recording six saves. Along with Betzler, the Beloit defense stalled the Eagles for much of the night, only allowing one BU corner over the ninety minutes.
