ROCKTON, Ill. - On Saturday the Beloit College Indoor Track and Field teams hosted their first indoor meet in the modern era at Hononegah High School. The Buccaneers welcomed Carroll Univeristy to the dual meet. In the first taste of indoor action this season, the Buccaneers saw success from a host of their athletes.
For the Men, Sophomore Sprinter
Josh Yearby (West Park, FL) picked up where he left off a season ago. He posted top times in the 60m (7.06) and 200m (23.59).
Nate Otis (Shoreview, Minn.) took the top time in the 300m with a 38.48 and the 60m hurdles with an 8.91. Freshman distance runner
Dylan Malmgren (Loves Park, Ill.) won both the mile (4:30.60) and the 3000m (9:21.24). The Buccaneers' success continued in the field events for the men. Otis took first in the high jump (1.80m) while
Cal Fox (Orfordville, Wis.) vaulted his way to victory (10'2"). In the jumps,
Izzy Zewdie (Las Vegas, Nev.) swept the podium by hitting 6.14 meters in the long jump and 11.45 meters in the triple jump. Finally,
Joshua Martinez Marte (Beloit, Wis.) landed atop the shot put podium with a throw of 13.29m.
On the women's side,
Alayna Furch (Saint Charles, Mo.) finished 2nd in the 60m with a time of 8.76, 0.01 behind first place.
Cole Miller (Salem, Ore.) placed first in the 300m, clocking in at 44.73.
Simone de Montigny (Neenah, Wis.) topped the mile leader board with a 6:08.33 time.
The Buccaneers head to MWC foe Ripon College on Saturday for the Ripon Alumni Dual at the Willmore Center.
