Women's Basketball Defeated By Prairie Fire

BELOIT, Wis. - In a Midwest Conference women's basketball game on Saturday, the Beloit Buccaneers struggled to find their offensive rhythm in a 84-48 loss to Knox at Flood Arena.

The Buccaneers (2-15, 1-7 MWC) faced offensive challenges throughout the contest, shooting just 24.6% (14-57) from the field and 22.7% (5-22) from three-point range. The Prairie Fire (9-6, 4-2 MWC) established control early, building a 21-10 first quarter lead and extending it to 49-22 by halftime.

Kaelie Moreno (Yorkville, Ill.) led Beloit with 9 points, including two three-pointers while Hailey Johnson (South Milwaukee, Wis.) contributed 7 points. The Buccaneers' offense struggled particularly in the third quarter, managing just one field goal.

Despite the offensive struggles, Beloit showed fight at the free throw line, converting 78.9% (15-19) of their attempts. Johanna McNair (Fishers, Ind.) contributed across the stat sheet with 5 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.

The Buccaneers had difficulty containing Knox's offensive attack, which shot 43.9% from the field and was led by Bria Medina's 21 points. Knox dominated points in the paint (28-12) and capitalized on turnovers, scoring 29 points off Beloit miscues.

The Bucs head to Lake Forest on Wednesday, January 22nd for their first road game since January 4th. Tip off from the Sports & Recreation Center is set for 5:30 pm.
