LAKE FOREST, Ill. - This evening the Beloit College Women's basketball team was defeated by Lake Forest College. The Foresters (3-13, 2-6 MWC) defeated the Buccaneers (2-16, 1-8 MWC) 63-57. Beloit struggled offensively throughout the contest, shooting just 37.1% from the field and 18.2% from three-point range in the loss.
Hailey Johnson (South Milwaukee, Wis.) led the way for Beloit with 16 points on efficient 7-14 shooting, while
Kaelie Moreno (Yorkville, Ill.) provided a spark off the bench with 11 points.
Hadja Bayo (Round Rock, Texas) made her presence felt inside grabbing 10 rebounds to go along with 5 points.
Despite showing early promise and building a 5-point advantage in the first quarter, Beloit was unable to maintain control. The game remained competitive throughout, featuring 13 lead changes and 6 ties. However, Lake Forest controlled the tempo for much of the contest, holding the lead for 26:45 of game time compared to Beloit's 10:39.
The difference ultimately came down to shooting efficiency. While Beloit found success inside with 32 points in the paint, they struggled mightily from the perimeter, converting just 4 of 22 three-point attempts. Free throw shooting also proved problematic, as the team made only 7 of 15 attempts from the line.
The Buccaneers visit the Illinois College Lady Blues on Saturday. Tip off from Sherman Gymnasium is set for 1 pm.
