BELOIT, Wis. - Despite a strong showing from the Beloit College swimming and diving team, particularly on the women's side, they fell short against Loras College in their dual meet. The Beloit women put up an impressive fight, scoring 131 points to Loras's 150, while the men's team finished with 45 points to Loras's 141.
The highlight of the day for Beloit came in the diving events, where they dominated the women's competition. Senior
Helena Harrison (Chapel Hill, N.C.)Â swept both diving events, winning the 1-meter with a score of 402.80 and the 3-meter with 231.90 points. Her teammates
Elsa Gregory and
India David (St. Paul, MN.) completed a Beloit sweep in the 1-meter diving, taking second and third places respectively.
In the swimming events, Beloit's women's 200-yard medley relay team started the meet strong with a victory. The team of

Lylah Murrah (North Pole, AK),
Lydia Nordgren (South Beloit, Ill.), and
Maclaryn Leonard (South Beloit, Ill.) clocked in at 1:57.18. Nordgren, later showed her individual prowess by winning the 100-yard butterfly in 59.49 seconds.
Jeremy Mueller (Machesney Park, Ill.) continued to shine for the Beloit men's team, winning the 200-yard freestyle in 1:45.34 and leading off the victorious 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished in 1:43.86. The relay victory was particularly exciting as it came down to less than half a second, with Beloit edging out Loras by just 0.41 seconds.
Murrah and
Kelsey Gerstler also had notable performances for Beloit in the breaststroke events, with Murrah winning the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:43.13. The meet concluded with another victory for Beloit's women in the 200-yard freestyle relay, where the team of Nordgren, Murrah,
Amelia Pullen (New Orleans, La.), and Leonard posted a time of 1:44.52.
The Buccaneers wrapped up their home meets for the season but return to the pool at the end of the month for the Wisconsin Private Championships. Action from the Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin starts on Friday. January 31st.Â
