LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Beloit College Men's basketball team fell on the road to Lake Forest College this evening. The Foresters (7-10, 4-4 WC) handed the Buccaneers (6-11, 2-7 MWC) a decisive 83-63 defeat. The Buccaneers' offensive struggles were evident from the start, as they shot just 37.9% from the field and a mere 18.8% from three-point range.
Anthony Carter (Greenfield, Wis.) led Beloit's scoring effort with 16 points, including a strong showing at the free-throw line where he went 7-for-9, while
Brian Rusch (Edgerton, Wis.) contributed 13 points off the bench on efficient 5-of-10 shooting.
The game was largely controlled by Lake Forest, who held the lead for nearly 37 minutes of play. . Despite solid rebounding efforts, particularly from
Dae'Quan Davis (Chicago, Ill.) who pulled down 11 boards, Beloit struggled to contain Lake Forest's efficient offense, which shot 54.2% from the field and dominated the paint with 42 points.
The Buccaneers did manage to keep their turnovers low with just 10 for the game, and their bench matched Lake Forest's production with 19 points, but these positives weren't enough to overcome the substantial shooting disparity between the teams.
The Bucs travel to Jacksonville, Illinois on Saturday for a rematch against the Illinois College Blue Boys. IC defeated Beloit at Flood Arena earlier this month, the final score was 62-71.
