Women's Basketball Defeated By Lady Blues

JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team traveled to Illinois College this afternoon for their second of two match ups against the Lady Blues this afternoon. Illinois College defeated Beloit College by a final score of 72-47. Illinois College dominated from the start, holding a 23-10 lead at the end of the first quarter and maintaining a substantial advantage throughout the contest.

Beloit struggled offensively, shooting only 29.8% from the field and 25% from the three-point line, while Illinois College connected on 42.9% of their field goals and 37% of their three-point attempts. Beloit's performance was further hindered by their 44.4% free throw shooting and their inability to secure second-chance points, with only 6 second chance points, compared to 13 for Illinois College.

Despite Beloit's struggles, there were some individual performances that stood out. Johanna McNair led the Bucs in scoring with ten points and five boards. Hailey Johnson (South Milwaukee, Wis.) added 8 points, while Julia Kennedy (South Milwaukee, WI) had 5 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Hadja Bayo (Round Rock, Texas) recorded eight points and eight boards. Despite their efforts, Beloit ultimately struggled to keep pace with Illinois College's consistent offensive output and stout defense. Beloit's record fell to 2-17 (1-9 MWC) after the loss, a tough season so far, while Illinois College improved to 7-11 (4-5 MWC) with the win.

The Buccaneers head to Appleton, Wisconsin on Tuesday to face off against the Vikings of Lawrence University. Tip off from Alexander Gymnasium is set for 5:30 pm.
