WHITEWATER, Wis.- The Karl Schlender Invite, held on January 25, 2025, saw a number of colleges and universities competing in a variety of track and field events. For Beloit College, the day presented a mix of strong individual performances, notable team efforts, and areas for growth.
In the team performances, Beloit's top women's 4x400m relay team secured a respectable third-place finish with a time of 4:40.48, earning valuable points for the team. In the Women's 4x200m Relay, Beloit managed a third place time of 1:54.33.
Looking at individual performances, in the men's events, Beloit's Dylan Malmgren (Loves Park, Ill.) claimed the top spot in the 5000m race, finishing in 15:50.41. In the 800m, Cooper Rathmann (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Cal Fox (Orfordville, Wis. ) placed 11th and 14th with times of 2:15.07 and 2:18.04, respectively. In the 400m, Nate Otis (Shoreview, Minn.) delivered a strong performance, securing a third-place finish with a time of 51.34. In the Shot Put, Joshua Martinez Marte (Beloit, Wis.) put up a solid performance, finishing first with a throw of 15.05m. Martinez Marte also had a good finish in the Weight Throw, taking 13th with a throw of 13.66m.
Turning to the women's events, Simone de Montigny (Neenah, Wis.) was the only Beloit athlete in the 1 Mile event, finishing in 18th place with a time of 5:58.05. Selin Tufte (Clarkdale, Ariz.) and Carly Carpenter (Sycamore, Ill.) finished 9th and 15th in the 800m with times of 2:47.87 and 3:12.64. In the 400m, Jaslyn Gama (Beloit, Wis.) took 10th place with a time of 1:07.63, the only Beloit athlete in this event. In the High Jump, Naomi Murphy (Dubuque, Iowa) would finish 12th with a height of 1.44m. In the Pole Vault, Naomee Casey (Broken Arrow, Okla) finished 10th with a mark of 2.97m. Finally, in the Weight Throw, Kit Kronberger (Wausau, Wis.)managed a 13th-place finish with a throw of 13.76m.
The Buccaneers head to Dubuque, Iowa next weekend for the Spartan Shoot out. Events will start at 10:30 am from A.Y. McDonald Indoor Track.
