BELOIT, Wisconsin - This evening the Beloit College Women's basketball team hosted the Illinois College Lady Blues in a midweek Midwest Conference match up. The Lady Blues led from the jump securing a 76-46 victory at Flood Arena. The Buccaneers (1-13, 0-5 MWC) struggled to break the Lady Blues (5-9, 2-3 MWC) press, leading to their scoring struggles.
Illinois College established control early, jumping out to a 17-9 first quarter lead behind efficient shooting and strong defensive pressure. Beloit's offense struggled throughout, shooting just 32% from the field and committing 26 turnovers. The Buccaneers particularly struggled from three-point range, converting only 2 of 12 attempts.
Despite the lopsided score, Beloit's
Hadja Bayo (Round Rock, Texas) put together a strong individual performance, recording a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Johanna McNair (Fishers, Ind.) added 9 points for the Buccaneers, but the team couldn't overcome their shooting woes and turnover issues.
For Illinois College, it was a balanced offensive attack with four players scoring in double figures. Jenna Bowman provided a spark off the bench with 13 points, including three 3-pointers, while Raegen Stringer and Jayln Patterson each contributed 12 points. Allison Icenogle also reached double figures with 11 points.
The Buccaneers continue this home stretch when they host Monmouth College on Saturday. Tip off from Flood Arena is set for 1 pm.
