Football Faces a Challenging Foresters Squad

LAKE FOREST, IL – Today marked another challenging outing for the Beloit College football team as they faced off against Lake Forest, ultimately falling with a final score of 59-0.

From the outset, the Buccaneers (0-5, 0-4 MWC) struggled to establish a foothold against a dominant Foresters (2-3, 2-2 MWC) team. The first quarter saw Lake Forest quickly put points on the board, securing a 14-0 lead. Beloit's offensive drives in the first quarter, led by quarterback Jared Torres (Mesquite, TX), managed some initial progress, including a 12-yard pass to AJ Williams (North Las Vegas, NV), but consistently stalled, forcing punts or turnovers on downs.

The second quarter proved even more difficult for Beloit, as Lake Forest extended their lead significantly, adding 21 points to make it 35-0 by halftime. Beloit's offense continued to be stifled, with a fumbled snap resulting in a turnover deep in their own territory, which Lake Forest capitalized on for another touchdown. Torres faced pressure throughout, even being sacked for a loss of 7 yards. Despite a 30-yard pass connection between Torres and A. Williams late in the half, an interception ended the drive, preventing any points for Beloit.

The second half brought little reprieve for Beloit College. The third quarter saw Lake Forest add another touchdown, bringing the score to 42-0. Beloit's offensive struggles persisted, managing only minor gains on their drives. The fourth quarter added another 17 points for Lake Forest, culminating in the 59-0 shutout.

The Buccaneers head to Appleton, Wisconsin and the Banta Bowl next Saturday for a clash with the Lawrence Univeristy Vikings. Kick off is set for 1 pm.
