Football Shutout Lawrence for Coach Langhoff's First Career Win

Appleton, Wis. –  Beloit College showcased a powerful offensive and defensive display today, routing Lawrence University with a final score of 34-0 at Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl. The Buccaneers, now standing at 1-5 overall and 1-4 in conference play, secured their first victory of the season in dominant style, while Lawrence falls to 0-6 overall and 0-5 in MWC play.

From the outset, Beloit's offense, led by quarterback Jared Torres (Mesquite, TX), proved to be an unstoppable force. The Buccaneers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in the first quarter. A crucial 36-yard pass from Torres to Jonathan Williamson (Bridgeport, CT), culminating an 8-play, 62-yard drive, put the Bucs up 7-0. This was quickly followed by a sensational 71-yard touchdown pass from Torres to Anthony Manuel (Las Vegas, NV), extending their lead to 13-0 with just 27 seconds elapsed in the scoring play.

The second quarter saw no let-up from Beloit College. Torres continued his aerial assault, connecting with Zach Cary (Byers, CO) for a 17-yard touchdown, capping a quick 2-play, 53-yard drive. Later in the quarter, Torres found AJ Williams (North Las Vegas, NV) for another 16-yard touchdown pass, finishing an 8-play, 63-yard drive. The most electrifying moment of the quarter, however, came from the special teams when Kadir Battle (Miami, FL) returned a punt an incredible 45 yards for a touchdown, pushing Beloit's lead to 34-0.

Beloit's defense was equally impressive, holding the Vikings scoreless throughout the entire game. The Buccaneers stifled Lawrence's rushing attack, allowing only 85 net yards on 40 attempts, and contained their passing game to a mere 74 net yards. Key defensive players like Jimmy Guillaume (West Palm Beach, FL),  Michael Snow (Parkland, FL), and Amani Floyd (Miami, FL) consistently pressured the Lawrence offense, preventing any sustained drives.

While the scoring ceased after the second quarter, Beloit maintained control through the second half, with the defense continuing its shutdown performance. The Buccaneers demonstrated superior time of possession in both the third and fourth quarters, managing the clock effectively and denying Lawrence opportunities to get back into the game.

The Buccaneers return to Strong Stadium next weekend to face Monmouth College. The Fighting Scots sit atop the MWC with a perfect 5-0 conference record.
