Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Succumbs to Late Goal to Foresters

BELOIT, WI – Beloit College men's soccer faced a tough challenge at Strong Soccer Field today, falling 1-0 to Lake Forest in a closely contested match. The match featured the top twon teams in the Midwest Conference. Despite a strong defensive effort and several key saves, the Buccaneers (6-6-3, 3-1-1 MWC) couldn't find the back of the net, ultimately conceding a single goal in the second half.

The first half saw both teams with scoring opportunities, but neither could break the deadlock. The Foresters' (13-0-0, 4-0-0 MWC) offense was more active, registering 10 shots to Beloit's 1. However, Buccaneers' goalkeeper David Staats (Meridian, ID) was a formidable presence, making 7 saves in the first 45 minutes to keep the score level at 0-0. Beloit's defense, including players like Marco Jijon (Wilmette, IL) and Colin Frank, held strong against the Foresters' pressure.

As the second half unfolded, Beloit continued to defend resolutely, with Staats adding to his save tally. The decisive moment came in the 64th minute when Lake Forest scored the only goal of the match. The Buccaneers fought to equalize, making several substitutions to inject fresh energy, with players like Santiago Gomez (Marietta, GA) and Max Wilson (Olympia, WA) contributing to the offensive push. Despite their efforts, including a late surge with shots from Wilson, Evan Miranda (Grants Pass, Ore.), and Gomez, Beloit was unable to convert.

The Buccaneers shake off the loss and head to Grinnell, Iowa on Wednesday for a matchup with the Pioneers. Kick off from Springer Field is set for 4 pm.
