Football Falls to an Undefeated Monmouth Squad

BELOIT, WI – Beloit College faced a formidable opponent in Monmouth College on Saturday, with the Fighting Scots ultimately prevailing 72-0 in a game that highlighted Monmouth's strong offensive and defensive performance. The Fighting Scots improve to a perfect 6-0 in MWC play and 6-1 overall while the Bucs move to 1-5 in MWC action and 1-6 overall. 

The games saw the Fighting Scots dominate from the outset. Monmouth's offense was a well-oiled machine, racking up 252 net rushing yards and 140 net passing yards for a total of 392 yards of offense. 

Beloit's defense, while under constant pressure, fought hard throughout the contest. Defensive leaders included Josh Martinez (Beloit, WI), who tallied 9 total tackles (3 solo, 6 assisted), RJ Dube III (Tavernier, FL) with 7 tackles, and Michael Snow (Parkland, FL) also contributing 7 tackles. The Buccaneers' defense managed to create one fumble recovery by Berdyasky Pierre (Miami Gardens, FL), and demonstrated grit in limiting some of Monmouth's drives.

The Buccaneers' offense struggled to find its rhythm against a stout Monmouth defense.Quarterbacks Jared Torres (Mesquite, TX), Ben Parker (Las Vegas, NV) and Conner Richards (Piedmont, OK) faced relentless pressure, with the team suffering three sacks. Kaleb Elder (Sebastian, FL) led Beloit's rushing efforts with 3 carries for 23 yards, while Anthony Manuel (Las Vegas, NV) added 16 yards on 6 carries. AJ Williams (North Las Vegas, NV) recorded Beloit's only reception for 5 yards.

Special teams for Beloit saw Ian Ladd (Madison, WI) punt 7 times for an average of 35.1 yards, with a long of 42 yards. In the return game, Amani Floyd (Miami, FL) was active, returning 4 kickoffs for 84 yards, and Kadir Battle (Miami, FL) added 3 kickoff returns for 47 yards.

The Buccaneers will look to regroup before heading north to Ripon, Wisconsin next weekend. Kick off against the Red Hawks on Saturday is set for 1 pm from Hopp Stadium.
