WATERTOWN, Wis. – Beloit College showcased a commanding performance on Tuesday night sweeping Maranatha Baptist in a decisive 3-0 victory at the Maranatha Gymnasium. The Buccaneers secured the win with set scores of 25-19, 25-21, and 25-16, improving their season record to 3-18 (0-5 MWC).
The Buccaneer offense proved to be a consistent threat throughout the match, particularly excelling in the first and third sets with attack percentages of .170 and .172, respectively. Their ability to sideout effectively was key to maintaining momentum, with a strong 75% sideout rate in the opening set.
Kierra Rayne Hoover (Albuquerque, New Mexico) led the Bucs attack, hammering down a team-high 10 kills. Aaliyah Gerard (Aiea, HI) delivered 11 assists, 5 digs and three service aces. Defensively, Kaylee Witte (Poplar Grove, Ill.) recorded 11 digs.
While individual player statistics highlight a balanced attack for Beloit, the overall team effort in ball control and strategic play was evident. The Buccaneers minimized errors and capitalized on Maranatha Baptist's struggles, particularly in the third set where the home team managed only a .103 attack percentage.
These two teams will face off again on Friday in Beloit. Match time is set for 7 pm in Flood Arena.
