BELOIT, Wis. – The atmosphere was electric at Flood Arena tonight as Beloit Volleyball celebrated Senior Night, honoring Aileen Garcia (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Kaylee Witte (Poplar Grove, Ill.) after a commanding 3-0 sweep (25-21, 25-10, 25-19) against Maranatha Baptist. The Buccaneers showcased a dominant performance, improving their season record to 4-18 (0-5 MWC).
While the evening was a celebration of the team's seniors, the entire Buccaneer squad delivered a strong offensive and defensive showing. Key offensive contributions came from several players throughout the match. In the first set, the Buccaneers displayed a solid attack percentage of .196. They elevated their game significantly in the second set, hitting an impressive .324, and maintained a strong .207 in the final set.
The match saw powerful performances, with Beloit racking up 39 kills on the night. The team's collective effort was evident in their serve reception, maintaining a high percentage above .940 across all sets, allowing their offense to flourish. The Buccaneers also demonstrated a strong defensive presence at the net, accumulating a total of 2.0 blocks over the three sets.
Witte and Kierra Rayne Hoover (Albuquerque, New Mexico) each recorded eight kills to lead the Bucs offensively. Aaliyah Gerard (Aiea, HI) and Lizzie Paschal (Holbrook, AZ) split the setting duties with Gerard dishing out 12 assists and Paschal nine. Witte and Paschal again showed all around skill leading the Bucs back line as well. Witte collected 12 digs while Paschal tallied a team-high 13.
The Buccaneers have a quick turn around before hosting Lawrence tomorrow afternoon. Match time is set for 1 pm from Flood Arena.
