Volleyball Avenges Early Season Loss, Sweeps Alverno on the Road

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Beloit College Volleyball team showcased a commanding performance this evening, sweeping Alverno College in three straight sets (25-20, 25-11, 25-21). With the win, the Buccaneers improve to 5-19 overall while the Inferno fall to 3-19 overall.

From the outset, Beloit demonstrated superior attacking efficiency and defensive prowess. In the first set, despite a closely contested start, Beloit pulled away with a 25-20 win. Their offensive power was particularly evident in the second set, where they nearly doubled Alverno's score, securing a dominant 25-11 victory. The third set saw Alverno attempt a comeback, but Beloit held firm, closing out the match 25-21 to complete the sweep.

Key players for the Bucs delivered impressive statistics throughout the match. Selin Tufte (Clarkdale, Ariz.) was a standout attacker, tallying a match-high 11 kills and contributing significantly to Beloit's strong defense with 12 digs. This marks her fourth match of the season where she has recorded double-digit kills and digs. Maddisyn Adams (Stockett, MT)Naomi Murphy (Dubuque, Iowa) and Kyra Suiter-Meyers (Orfordville, Wis.) each recorded five kills. Emily Ortiz (Aurora, IL) and Aaliyah Gerard (Aiea, HI) split the setting duties with Ortiz getting the edge with 16 assists. Gerard added 13. Defensively, Renee Stout (Nocona, TX) and Adams also collected double-digit digs with Stout posting 10 and Adams a match-high 13.

On the defensive end, Beloit's blocking and digging efforts were instrumental in stifling Alverno's offense. The team's ability to minimize errors and capitalize on Alverno's mistakes was a defining factor in their victory. The overall team effort resulted in a solid attack percentage of .142 for the match, alongside strong service and reception performances.

The Buccaneers host back-to-back conference opponents this weekend, hosting Monmouth College of Friday night (7pm) and Illinois College on Saturday afternoon (1pm).
