Volleyball Falls to Monmouth

BELOIT, WI – The Beloit College Volleyball team hosted the Monmouth College Fighting Scots this evening. Although things did not go their way, as they were swept in three sets. They showed a spirited effort but were unable to secure a set victory, falling 12-25, 16-25, and 11-25.

The match, which lasted just over an hour, saw Monmouth (IL) improve their season record to 10-13 (4-2 in conference play), while Beloit College's record moved to 5-20 overall and 0-7 in conference action.

Beloit's offensive efforts were led by Selin Tufte (Clarkdale, Ariz.) who contributed 6.5 points across the three sets, including 5 kills. Naomi Murphy (Dubuque, Iowa) also showed offensive presence with 5 points. The Buccaneers struggled with consistency in their attack, finishing with a team hitting percentage of .109 in the first set, .237 in the second, and a tough .074 in the third. Their overall team blocks for the match stood at 3.0.

Defensively, Beloit's Kaylee Witte (Poplar Grove, Ill.) led the team with 9 digs. Adelaide Schmitt (Aurora, Colo.) contributed 6 digs. However, Monmouth (IL)'s attack proved potent, posting a hitting percentage of .364 across the three sets.

The Buccaneers showed resilience, particularly in the second set where they scored 16 points, their highest of the match. However, Monmouth (IL) consistently maintained control, capitalizing on Beloit's attack errors and executing strong serves and blocks.

The Buccaneers host Illinois College tomorrow afternoon for their final home and MWC game of the season. First serve from Flood Arena is set for 1 pm.
