BELOIT, WI – The Beloit College volleyball team hosted Illinois College for their final home match of the 2025 season this afternoon. The Buccaneers ultimately fell in the four-set match (21-25, 20-25, 26-24, 21-25).
The match saw Illinois College improve their season record to 10-19 overall and 5-2 in conference play, while Beloit College now stands at 5-21 overall and 0-8 in the conference.
While the final score didn't go their way, several Beloit players delivered strong performances. Selin Tufte (Clarkdale, Ariz.) led the team in kills with an impressive 11 kills over the four sets, demonstrating her offensive prowess. Kierra Rayne Hoover (Albuquerque, New Mexico) and Kyra Suiter-Meyers (Orfordville, Wis.) also contributed significantly to the attack, with Hoover recording 7 kills and Suiter-Meyers adding 6.
On the defensive end, Adelaide Schmitt (Aurora, Colo.) anchored the back row with solid reception and digging throughout the match, she recorded a team-high 9 digs. Tufte and Lizzie Paschal also showed off their defensive ablilites, collecting 8 digs each.
The Buccaneers showed flashes of their potential, especially in the third set where they edged out Illinois College 26-24. This crucial set win highlighted their ability to dig deep and execute under pressure, fueled by strong offensive plays and persistent defense.
Illinois College took the first set 25-21. Beloit's attack struggled slightly with a .115 hitting percentage, while Illinois College managed a .200. The second set also went to Illinois College, 25-20. Beloit's hitting percentage dipped further to .083, making it difficult to maintain offensive momentum. Beloit rallied magnificently in the third set, winning 26-24. This was their most efficient offensive set, hitting .200, and showcased their determination to stay in the match. Illinois College closed out the match in the fourth set with a 25-21 victory. Despite Beloit's improved hitting (.286), Illinois College proved slightly more consistent.
The Buccaneers have one final match this season. They head to Chicago, Illinois and the Solheim Center on Tuesday, November 4th to face Moody Bible for the second time this season.
