GALESBURG, Ill. – The Beloit College Buccaneers faced a tough challenge on the road, falling to the Knox College Prairie Fire by a score of 74-52 on Saturday, February 15th. The game, played at Knox's Memorial Gym, saw the Buccaneers struggling to find consistency on both ends of the floor. The Buccaneers fall to 2-21 overall and 1-13 in MWC play. The Prairie Fire improve to 14-9 and 9-5 in MWC play.
Beloit's offense faced difficulties throughout the contest, with a field goal percentage of just 38.2% (21-of-55). Their three-point shooting fared even worse, connecting on a mere 3-of-13 attempts (23.1%).
Hadja Bayo (Round Rock, Texas) led Beloit in scoring with 12 points, grabbing 4 rebounds. Johanna McNair (Fishers, Ind.) and Kaitlin Davis (Platte City, Mo.) were second on the team with 10 points. Davis recorded her first career double-double while securing a game-high 12 boards.
Beloit's struggles were most pronounced in the second and third quarters, where they scored a combined 20 points.
Knox College proved to be a formidable opponent, shooting 42.2% from the field and a solid 29.6% from beyond the arc. They also capitalized on Beloit's turnovers, scoring 24 points off Buccaneers' miscues. Bria Medina of Knox led all scorers with 21 points.
The Buccaneers make the long trek to Grinnell, Iowa on Wednesday for their final road game of the season. Tip off from Darby Gymnasium is set for 5:30 pm.
