Buccaneer Track and Field Teams Each Grab Top Five Finishes

CHICAGO, Ill. - In their final meet before the 2025 MWC Indoor Championships, the Beloit College Track anf Field Teams saw many strong performances leading to top five finishes for both the men and women. 

The Buccaneer men put together a third-place finish with one first-place finish, three-second place, one-fourth, fifth, and sixth-place finishes, and two eighth-place finishes. The lone first place finish came via the 4x400 relay. The team of Alexandre Atou (Abomey Calavi, Benin), Nate Otis (Shoreview, Minn.), Izzy Zewdie (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Josh Yearby (West Park, FL) put together a time of 3:29.50. The Bucs grabbed another point in the 4x400 when their "B" team of Kembre Daniel (Chicago, Ill.), John Deary II (Westwego, LA), Elijah Hartberg (Stoughton, Wis.) and Dylan Malmgren (Loves Park, Ill.) crossed at 3:42.68 for eighth place. Yearby grabbed the only second place finish on the track in the 60 meter dash. Finishing sub-7 seconds he clocked in at 6.94 seconds. In the 200 meter dash, Zewdie toed the line in 23.49 seconds for eighth place. 

The success continued in the field events for the Bucs. Joshua Martinez Marte (Beloit, Wis.) added two second-place finishes in the Shot put and Weight Throw. He tossed 14.59 meters in the shot put and 15.02 meters in weight throw. In the jumps, sophomore Andrew Arhebun (Chicago, Ill.) took fourth in long jump reaching 5.98 meters. Zewdie and Vansh Bhandari (Mangalore, Karnataka, India) finished in 5th and 6th in triple jump with distances of 12.12 meters and 10.52 meters. 

The Buccaneer women saw success as well. While they had no first place finishes, they had two second-place finishes, three fourth-place finishes, a fifth, sixth, two seventh and one eighth place finishes. Cole Miller (Salem, Ore.) took second in the 800 with a time of 2:31.06. The women's 4x400 "A" team of Alayna Furch (Saint Charles, Mo.), Jaslyn Gama (Beloit, Wis.), Jaeonie Echols (Kansas City, Mo.) and Miller took fourth, clocking in at 4:16.73. Individually, Furch took sixth in the 400, toeing the line in 1:01.89. Rounding out the running events for Beloit was Niomee Casey (Broken Arrow, Okla) in the 60m hurdles. She finished at 10.90 and in seventh place. 

In the field, the Bucs saw six top eight finishes. Naomee Casey (Broken Arrow, Okla) and Haley Carlin (Sarasota, Fla.) finished fourth and fifth in Pole Vault, Casey hit 3.08m and Carlin hit 2.33m. Kit Kronberger (Wausau, Wis.) took fourth in shot put with a throw of 10.41 meters and followed that up with a second place finish in the weight throw (13.39m). Adelaide Schmitt (Aurora, Colo.) and Kai Herrera (Rochelle, Ill.) also placed in weight throw. Schmitt in seventh with a toss of 9.64m and Hererra in eighth at 9.60m. 

The Buccaneers head to Monmouth, Illinois on Friday for the 2025 Midwest Conference Indoor Championships.
