BELOIT, Wis. - In a tough match-up at Flood Arena, the Beloit College Women's Basketball team fell to Ripon College with a final score of 41-69.
The Buccaneers (2-19. 1-11 MWC) struggled to find their rhythm, shooting just 28.6% from the field and 31.6% from beyond the arc. Leading the charge for Beloit was Hailey Johnson (South Milwaukee, Wis.), who put up 17 points while shooting 5-11, including 4-4 on free throws. Johanna McNair (Fishers, Ind.) contributed 5 points, shooting 2-7 and pulling down one defensive rebound and getting one assist. Defensively, the Bucs forced 17 turnovers by the Red Hawks (16-4, 10-1 MWC).
The Bucs struggled in the first half, scoring only 13 points compared to Ripon's 36. They were also having defensive issues, allowing Ripon to score points on the inside. While they did improve in the second half, it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.
Beloit heads to Mount Vernon, Iowa and Cornell College on Saturday for their first of three road games. Tip off at the Small Athletic and Wellness Center is set for 1 pm.
