Beloit, WI – The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team kicked off their 2025 season with a resounding 17-5 victory over UW-Stevens Point.
The Buccaneers (1-0, 0-0 NACC) offensive prowess was on full display, led by Maya DeGeorge (Grand Junction, Colo.), who scored an impressive eight goals. DeGeorge's performance included two free-position goals, highlighting her ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities. The Bucs also saw offensive production from Cassidy Felix (Bellflower, Calif.) (3 goals), Johanna McNair (Fishers, Ind.) (3 goals, 1 assist), Cecilia Johnson (Mobile, Ala.) (2 goals, 1 assist) and Daisy Kleinhoffer (Minooka Community HS) (1 goal).
Beloit tallied 42 total shots, compared to just 14 from UWSP (0-1, 0-0 WIAC). The Pointers struggled to find their rhythm against Beloit's strong defensive presence. While Aubrey Keeping managed to net three goals and Marissa Van Dyke added two, the Pointers were ultimately outmatched.
In net for the Bucs, Jasmin Bowers (Richmond, Texas) got the start, making on save in 30 minutes. Kim Pilon (Brich Run, Mich.) came on in the second half, and did not record a save.
The first period saw Beloit jump to a 5-1 lead, with DeGeorge scoring four goals and Felix adding another. UWSP's Van Dyke scored to cut the lead, but Beloit quickly responded. The second period continued Beloit's dominance, with goals from Kleinhoffer, Felix, and DeGeorge, while the Pointers' Aubrey Keeping managed to find the net.
The second half saw Beloit maintain their offensive pressure, adding goals from McNair and Johnson. UWSP struggled to break through Beloit's defense, with Keeping scoring in the fourth period. Ultimately, Beloit secured the victory with goals from McNair and Felix.
The Buccaneers head to UW-Stout and Menomonie, Wis. on Wednesday March 5th for a clash with the Blue Devils. First draw from Nelson field is set for 4 pm.
