ROCK ISLAND, IL – In a thrilling women's lacrosse match, Beloit College emerged victorious against Augustana (IL) this evening, with a final score of 17-12. The game showcased Beloit's offensive prowess and resilience.
The Buccaneers (4-1, 0-0 NACC) displayed balanced scoring throughout the game, with Maya DeGeorge (Grand Junction, Colo.) leading the charge with an impressive 7 goals. Johanna McNair (Fishers, Ind.) added 6 goals to the scoreboard, while Willow Mashkuri (Middlesex, Vt.), Menah Garcia (New Hope, Minn.), and Cassidy Felix (Bellflower, Calif.) contributed to the team's total. DeGeorge and McNair each also had an assist. Garcia's goal marked the first of her collegiate career.
The Vikings (3-4) fought valiantly on their home turf, with Madison Langewisch leading their scoring efforts with 5 goals. Elena Bechard netted 2 goals, and Colleen Chiavola, Kritika Chitnis, Jackie McNair, and Becca Lacina each scored one. Colleen Chiavola, Kritika Chitnis and Madison Langewisch had 1 assist each while Becca Lacina had 3 assists for Augustana.
The Buccaneers' defense, anchored by goalkeeper Kim Pilon (Birch Run, Mich.) with 11 saves, proved crucial in containing the Vikings' offense. Beloit's ability to secure ground balls, totaling 27 compared to Augustana's 31, contributed to their ball possession and offensive opportunities. Beloit was also very good at clearing, going 16 of 19 while Augustana was 18 of 20.

The Buccaneers don't return to the field for two weeks, when they kick off the NACC season in Appleton, Wis. against Lawrence University. The 2025 season marks the first for Lawrence Women's Lacrosse.
