BELOIT, WI - The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team (4-1, 1-0 NACC) delivered a dominant performance at Strong Stadium, defeating Lawrence University (1-4, 0-1 NACC) with a final score of 17-5.
From the opening whistle, Beloit established control, jumping out to a commanding 6-0 lead in the first period. Maya DeGeorge (Grand Junction, Colo.) spearheaded the scoring charge with a stellar seven-goal performance, including one free-position goal. Johanna McNair (Fishers, Ind.) added to the tally with an impressive six goals and three assists, demonstrating excellent play making ability.
The Buccaneer offense proved relentless, consistently finding the back of the net throughout the match. Willow Mashkuri (Middlesex, Vt.) and Cecilia Johnson (Mobile, Ala.) also contributed to the scoring, further showcasing the team's depth and versatility. Cassidy Felix (Bellflower, Calif.) and McNair contributed assists, spreading the offensive opportunities.
Beloit's defensive unit played a crucial role in limiting Lawrence's scoring chances. Led by goalkeeper Kim Pilon (Birch Run, Mich.), who recorded 3 saves, the Buccaneers effectively shut down Lawrence's offensive threats. The team's ability to secure ground balls (25 compared to Lawrence's 10) and win draw controls (17 to Lawrence's 8) further cemented their dominance.
Lawrence University struggled to find momentum against Beloit's stifling defense. Lydia Lueck was the standout player for Lawrence, netting four goals, including two free-position goals. Sophia Lacrecque contributed one free-position goal.
Despite the loss, Lawrence's goalkeeper, Evelyn Pryadkin, put in a valiant effort, recording 15 saves throughout the game.
The Buccaneers face a big test on Saturday when they head to Aurora, Illinois and Aurora University for a rematch of the 2024 NACC Championship game. Game time is set for 11 am.
