BELOIT, WI – The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team hosted the Lake Forest College Foresters for their second Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) game. The game, played before an audience of 55, saw Lake Forest (4-4, 3-0 NACC) maintain control throughout, while Beloit (3-3, 0-2 NACC) battled hard on their home turf.
Lake Forest came out strong, dominating the first quarter with a 7-1 lead. Beloit, however, found moments to shine. Early in the game, Liam Walker (Elmhurst, Ill.) scored the team's first goal, assisted by Ryder Story (Salem, Ore.), ending the first quarter trailing by 6.
The second quarter brought more offense from the Foresters, but Beloit managed to find the net twice. Rilan Larmore (Olympia, Wash.) contributed both goals for the Buccaneers, without an assist. The teams headed into halftime with Lake Forest ahead 12-3.
The second half saw Lake Forest slow down their scoring pace, netting three goals. Beloit capitalized on their own opportunities. Ethan Scutchfield (Lexington, Ky.) scored an unassisted goal early in the third quarter. Into the fourth, Walker notched his second goal of the game, again unassisted. Shortly after, Jordan Rice (Lynwood, Ill.) scored his goal for the game, also unassisted. Finally, Will Palmer (Downers Grove, Ill.) contributed to the Buccaneer effort late in the fourth, again unassisted.
Despite these efforts, the Buccaneers were unable to close the scoring gap, and Lake Forest walked away with a 17-7 victory.
Offensively, Lake Forest's Brant Schuckman, Andrew Koch, Jackson Derosia, Brendan Herbert, Cory Cummins, Max Guyott, Aidan Wigton, Aj Lenz, and John Shannon all contributed to the scoring. Beloit was led by Walker, who scored two goals and Larmore, also with two goals. Story contributed with two assists.
In terms of statistics, Lake Forest out shot Beloit 67 to 23 and secured 54 ground balls compared to Beloit's 22. While Lake Forest had fewer turnovers (14) compared to Beloit's 28, both teams maintained an even 0 fouls throughout the game.
In goal, Eric Seo started the game and made 23 saves. Christian Moore took over in the final 15:00 minutes with 1 save.
The Buccaneers return to the field on Wednesday, March 26th in Appleton, Wis. against Lawrence University. Game time is set for 7 pm.
