ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Beloit College Track and Field teams have spent the last two day's competing at the Meet of Champions in Rock Island, Illinois. The Bucs saw numerous personal and seasons bests.Â
Dylan Malmgren (Loves Park, Ill.) led the way on the track, securing a decisive first-place finish in the Men's 5,000 meters. He navigated the distance race effectively, crossing the finish line with a winning time of 16:09.09 to claim the gold.
In the women's counterpart, Simone de Montigny (Neenah, Wis.)Â delivered a strong performance in the 5,000 meters. She battled through the laps to earn a commendable 4th place finish, clocking in at 20:36.89.
Nate Otis (Shoreview, Minn.) turned heads in the Men's 400-meter hurdles. Not only did he secure a solid 5th place finish against tough competition, but he also clocked a new personal record (PR) time of 53.77 seconds, demonstrating significant improvement.
The relay squads also took to the track. The Men's 4x100 meter team, comprised of Ayouba Sumoaro (Las Vegas, NV), Alexandre Atou (Abomey Calavi, Benin), Otis, and Josh Yearby (West Park, FL) finished 10th with a combined time of 42.72 seconds. The Women's 4x100 meter relay team, featuring Jaslyn Gama (Beloit, Wis.), Alayna Furch (Saint Charles, Mo.), Naomi Murphy (Dubuque, Iowa), and Cole Miller (Salem, Ore.), placed 12th, completing the race in 52.95 seconds.
In the field events, Joshua Martinez Marte (Beloit, Wis.) competed in the Men's Shot Put, achieving a mark of 14.12 meters, which placed him 20th. Naomee Casey (Broken Arrow, Okla) cleared 3.15 meters in the Women's Pole Vault, finishing in 15th place. Murphy successfully jumped 1.44 meters in the Women's High Jump, also securing a 15th place finish.
The Buccaneers run next on April 26th, in De Pere, Wisconsin at the St. Norbert College Invite.Â
