Baseball Leads MWC with Seven All-Conference Bids, McArthur Named Newcomer of the Year

BELOIT, Wis. – The Beloit College baseball program is celebrating a banner 2025 season, highlighted by an impressive seven players earning Midwest Conference (MWC) All-Conference accolades.

Four Buccaneers were named to the MWC All-Conference First Team, the most by any team.

Senior first basemen Connor Vogel (Palmdale, Calif.) capped a decorated career with a First Team selection. Vogel has been an offensive force, ranking 3rd in Beloit baseball history with 145 career RBIs and 18 career home runs. He's also 2nd in career putouts (787, chasing 1st at 815), 4th in career total bases (273), 6th in career at-bats (541), and 8th in career hits (181, just one shy of 7th). This season, Vogel has amassed 65 hits (T4th in single-season BC history) and 51 RBIs, nearing his own single-season best of 56 set in 2023. In 2023 Vogel was named to the MWC first team and in 2024 he earned second team honors.

Sophomore pitcher Ben Schweit (Simi Valley, CA.) earned a First Team nod for his commanding presence on the mound. Schweit has tallied 83 strikeouts this season, putting him on the verge of breaking the single-season Beloit baseball record of 89. This marks Schweit's first MWC post-season honor roll.

Junior center fielder Jack Alport (Arlington Heights, Ill.) also secured a First Team spot. Alport has been a dynamic player, ranking 5th in Beloit baseball history with 44 career stolen bases (needing 47 to move into 4th) and boasting the 4th best career OBP at 0.455. His career marks also include 9th in total bases (221), 8th in singles (137, needing 142 for 7th), and 9th in hits (173). This season, Alport has delivered 70 hits – 3rd best in a Beloit baseball season (71 for T2nd, 74 for T1st) and T6th in MWC single-season history – including 53 singles, just shy of the single-season record of 58. Alport was named to the MWC Second Team list a season ago.

Senior pitcher Harvey Pena (Riverside, Calif.) rounded out the First Team honorees. Pena's consistent performance has placed him 3rd in Beloit history with 176 career strikeouts. Pena holds the MWC Saves record with 18.

The Buccaneers also saw three players earn Second Team All-Conference honors.

Senior pitcher Aiden Phipps (Simi Valley, Calif.) collected Second Team honors. Phipps is a cornerstone of Beloit's pitching staff, holding the record for most career innings pitched in Beloit baseball history (281) and ranking 2nd with 182 career strikeouts (the record is 290). Critically, Phipps is just two wins shy of tying the MWC Career wins record of 29. A season ago he earned First team honors and his freshman season in 2022 he was named second team All-MWC.

Freshman pitcher Maddon McArthur (Redondo Beach, Calif.) made an immediate splash, earning a Second Team selection and the distinguished title of MWC Newcomer of the Year. McArthur recorded six saves this season, tying Pena for the league lead. In 38.2 innings pitched, he stuck out 33 while giving up just 29 hits.

Sophomore right fielder Seth Brankey (Salem, Wis.) also garnered a Second Team nod for his contributions, the first of his career. Brankey has provided a spark at the top of the Bucs' lineup, his five home runs are second on the team and his .351 batting average is fourth best.

The Buccaneers are gearing up for NCAA Regional play which kicks off tomorrow afternoon. The Bucs will face the hosts, Gustavus Adolphus at 1:30 pm tomorrow afternoon.
