Men's Lacrosse Unable to Match Pace with Foresters

LAKE FOREST, IL – On a brisk afternoon at Farwell Field, the Beloit College Buccaneers (3-3, 0-2 NACC) displayed a resilient spirit in a challenging conference matchup against Lake Forest College. Despite a 20-3 final result in favor of the Foresters (4-3. 3-0 NACC), Beloit saw standout individual performances and moments of offensive efficiency that highlight the team's potential as they move deeper into their 2026 campaign.

The Buccaneers showed they could punch back early in the first period. After an opening goal by the Foresters, Beloit responded at the 11:05 mark of the first quarter. John Imbriale (Brooklyn, NY) found the back of the net for his sixth goal of the season, fueled by a sharp assist from Ryder Story (Salem, Ore.). The goal briefly leveled the game at 1-1, showcasing Beloit's ability to capitalize on transition opportunities.

Beloit's most productive offensive stretch came in the closing minutes of the second quarter. At 2:05, George Haigley (Cockeysville, MD)  tallied his first goal of the season following a well-placed pass from Liam Walker (Elmhurst, Ill.).

The Buccaneers refused to head into halftime without a fight, as Story took matters into his own hands with just 28 seconds remaining in the half. Story's unassisted goal capped off a multi-point performance for the sophomore, sending Beloit into the locker room with momentum.

The final score belies the Herculean effort put forth by the Beloit defense and goalkeeping unit. Goalie Christian Moore (Dubuque, Iowa) was under fire for much of the afternoon but rose to the occasion with an impressive 14 saves over 45 minutes of play. Mateo Passalino (Lake Forest, Ill.) entered in the fourth quarter to provide relief, adding another 5 saves to the team's total.

On the turf, Cristian Lewis (Seattle, WA) was a force in the scrap for possession, leading the Buccaneers with 5 ground balls. Defenders Alexander Klemp (Broomfield, Colo.) and Moore also contributed significantly to the defensive stand, recording 3 ground balls each, while Ethan Scutchfield (Lexington, Ky.) and Alexander Klemp (Broomfield, Colo.) each recorded a caused turnover.

The Buccaneers return to action on Wednesday, at Strong Stadium against Lawrence University. Game time is set for 7 pm.
