Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Third Quarter Surge Not Enough For Men's Lacrosse Against Dubuque

BELOIT, Wis. – The Beloit College men's lacrosse team demonstrated a resilient spirit in a NACC clash against the University of Dubuque this evening. Despite a late surge by the visitors resulting in a 17-8 final score, the game was highlighted by a dominant third-quarter performance and standout individual efforts from the Beloit roster.

The story of the game for the Buccaneers (5-8, 2-7 NACC) was their explosive performance in the third period. Entering the second half trailing 10-2, the Beloit offense found its rhythm and completely shifted the momentum of the game. Beloit outscored Dubuque 6-2 in the third frame, narrowing the gap and putting the pressure on the opposition.

The comeback attempt began with Rilan Larmore (Olympia, Wash.), who found the back of the net at the 10:26 mark of the third, assisted by Sky Solig (Warroad, MN). Shortly after, John Imbriale (Brooklyn, NY) capitalized on a man-up opportunity, scoring at 8:49 to keep the home crowd energized.

The highlight of the night belonged to Liam Walker (Elmhurst, Ill.), who took over the period with back-to-back goals at 4:22 and 2:52. Walker's offensive clinic was further supported by Solig, who capped off the Beloit scoring run with a goal in the final minute of the third quarter, bringing the score to 12-8 and making it a four-goal game heading into the final period.

Several key players delivered high-impact performances for Beloit. Walker was the primary catalyst for the offense, finishing with a team-high four points (2 goals, 2 assists). His vision and playmaking were essential during the team's second-half rally. Imbriale proved to be a clinical finisher, recording two goals on eight shots. Solig contributed across the board with a goal and an assist, totaling two points while adding three ground balls to the defensive effort. Defensively, Cristian Lewis (Seattle, WA) was a force on the field, leading all players with 7 ground balls and helping Beloit maintain a competitive presence in the midfield. In goal, Christian Moore (Dubuque, Iowa) stood tall under significant pressure, recording 9 saves over the full 60 minutes of play.

Beloit's first goal of the game came early in the first quarter when Isaac Guttormson (West Bend, Wis.) found an opening at 8:25. Later in the second quarter, Cole Conway (Nolensville, Tenn.) added to the tally with a goal assisted by Walker at the 7:39 mark.

While Dubuque (5-9, 3-6 NACC) managed to pull away in the fourth quarter with a 5-0 run, Beloit's ability to win the third quarter and their success in the clearing game (completing 17 of 22 clear attempts) showed a disciplined and competitive squad.

The Buccaneers are back in action in Milwaukee on Saturday at MSOE. Game time from Viets Field is set for 3 pm.
