MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Beloit College men's lacrosse team traveled to Viets Field this afternoon for a conference matchup against a high-powered MSOE squad. Despite a relentless offensive performance from the Raiders, the Buccaneers (5-9, 2-8 NACC) showed flashes of grit, particularly in their defensive effort and individual scoring plays during the 20-2 final.
Beloit's offense was led by the duo of Jeffrey Battle (Deerfield, IL) and Sky Solig (Warroad, MN), who each accounted for a goal to keep the Buccaneers competitive in the offensive zone.
The first breakthrough for Beloit came midway through the second period. At the 5:05 mark, Battle found the back of the net, capitalizing on a well-placed assist from Samuel Van Der Kolk (Grand Haven, Mich.). The play provided a much-needed spark for the Beloit bench and rewarded the team's persistence against a stingy MSOE defense.
The Buccaneers struck again late in the fourth quarter. With 3:20 remaining in the game, Solig took matters into his own hands, navigating the defense to score an unassisted goal. It was Solig's lone shot on goal for the day, proving his efficiency when given the opportunity.
The scoreline doesn't fully reflect the heavy lifting done by the Beloit defensive unit and their goalkeepers. The Buccaneers faced a staggering 53 shots throughout the game, and the tandem in the net remained busy from start to finish. Christian Moore (Dubuque, Iowa) earned the start, playing the first 30 minutes and recording 9 saves. Mateo Passalino (Lake Forest, Ill.) took over for the second half, contributing another 7 saves to the team's total of 16 for the day.
On the field, Keegan Heikila (West Salem, Ore.) was a defensive catalyst, leading the team with two caused turnovers and picking up three ground balls. Alexander Klemp (Broomfield, Colo.) and Isaac Guttormson (West Bend, Wis.) also anchored the effort on the turf, each securing three ground balls to help Beloit fight for possession.
Sophomore attacker John Imbriale (Brooklyn, NY) was a constant threat near the crease, leading all players in the game with 10 total shots. While the MSOE goalkeepers managed to keep him off the scoreboard, his ability to create space and find shooting lanes was a central part of the Beloit game plan. Liam Walker (Elmhurst, Ill.) also contributed to the pressure with four shots on the afternoon.
At the faceoff X, Cristian Lewis (Seattle, WA) battled through a difficult matchup, winning five faceoffs and leading the team with three ground balls alongside Heikila and Klemp.
The Buccaneers wrap up the 2026 season at home on Wednesday evening agaisnt Edgewood University. Game time from Strong Stadium is set for 7 pm.
