MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Beloit College women's lacrosse team faced a challenging conference road test this afternoon, dropping a 19-0 decision to the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) at Viets Field. Despite the final score, the Buccaneers (0-13, 0-8 NACC) demonstrated persistent effort and defensive grit throughout the four-quarter contest.
The highlight of the afternoon for Beloit was the performance of goalkeeper Kim Pilon (Birch Run, Mich.). Facing a relentless offensive barrage from the Raiders (6-10, 5-3 NACC), Pilon stood tall in the crease, recording 9 saves on the day. Her most active period came in the first quarter, where she turned away four shots to keep the Buccaneers within striking distance early on. In addition to her work between the pipes, Pilon led the team with 4 ground balls, showcasing her ability to clear the zone and challenge MSOE's attackers.
Supporting the defensive effort, Sophia Dietz (Schaumburg, IL) was a force on the turf, vacuuming up 3 ground balls, while Claire Dixon (Edwards, Colo.) and Willow Mashkuri (Middlesex, Vt.) each added 2 ground balls to the tally. Kiera Fairnington (Fort Frances, Ontario) and Natasha Ludwig (Royalton) were also active on the defensive end, each credited with causing turnovers to disrupt the Raiders' rhythm.
While the Buccaneers were unable to find the back of the net, several players created significant scoring opportunities. Ludwig led the offensive charge with three shot attempts, consistently testing the MSOE defense with her speed. Mashkuri provided Beloit's best look at the goal, firing two shots, including a sharp attempt on goal that required a save from MSOE's Molly Benjamins.
In the midfield, Julia Fussy (Mahtomedi, Minn.) proved to be a versatile asset for Beloit. Fussy was instrumental in the transition game, recording 2 draw controls and 2 ground balls while adding a shot attempt of her own. Kylie Wolff (Alberta, Canada) and the Buccaneers' "Team" unit combined for several additional draw controls, helping Beloit secure 7 total possessions from the center circle.
Beloit's most successful stretch of play came during the second and third quarters, where the defense tightened significantly. After a high-scoring first period by the Raiders, the Buccaneers' defensive unit, anchored by Pilon and Dixon, limited the damage and forced MSOE into several shot clock violations and turnovers.
A notable offensive sequence occurred in the first quarter when Ludwig broke free for a clear run at the goal at the 12:07 mark, though her shot sailed just wide. Later, in the second quarter, Mashkuri forced a save at the 2:44 mark, nearly breaking the shutout following a successful clear attempt by the Buccaneer defense.
The Buccaneers will close out the 2026 season on Wednesday in Madison against Edgewood University. Game time from Edgewood University Field – Reddan Park is set for 6 pm.
