Bucs Fall to Vikings

The Beloit College men's and women's swimming and diving team fell to Lawrence University on the road Saturday afternoon.

Men: LU 114, BC 91

Joe Stephenson, Tenajh Gaitor and Wil Kangas-Olson led the Buccaneer men combining for four first place finishes Saturday.

Kangas-Olson was the lone male diver competing Saturday adding first place points in the one-meter (165.30) and three-meter (235.20) dives. Stephenson touched the wall first in a tight race in the 50 freestyle. His time of 23.33 bested the competition by just two-tenths of a second. Teammates David Morris (24.44) and Karl Weiler (25.86) finished third and fourth in the event.

Gaitor took the top spot in the 100 butterfly registering a time of 56.85 while teammate Aaron Jolly came into the wall fourth in the event with a time of 1:00.10.

The Bucs tallied numerous second place finishes in the dual. Beloit finishes 2-4-5 in the 200 freestyle led by Jolly's 1:58.69. The Bucs took second through fourth in the 100 freestyle led by Stephenson's time of 52.52. In the 100 breaststroke, Gaitor (1:04.95) and Jolly (1:09.38) finished back-to-back in second and third while Weiler added fifth place points. Meshach Roberts added second place points to the team total in the 200 individual medley (2:12.59) and 100 backstroke (58.25).

The Bucs' relay teams also finished second at the meet. The 200 medley relay combination of Roberts, Gaitor, Morris and Stephenson were clocked in 1:43.86 and the 200 freestyle relay foursome of Alan Brint, Kangas-Olson, Brandon Washburn and Carson McDonald stopped the clock in 2:02.15.

Women: LU 168, BC 41

Eliana Ritt led the Buccaneer women at the dual with Beloit's lone event win. Ritt came into the wall first in the 200 individual medley registering a time of 2:20.46 to best the competition by nearly four seconds. Ritt added second place points in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:04.39 and finished fourth in the 100 freestyle after a 1:00.12 clocking.

Anna Bunzel also tallied a second place finish stopping the clock in 1:09.84 in the 100 backstroke. Morgan McDougal (2:17.20) and Bunzel (2:18.84) went 3-4 in the 200 freestyle while Beloit finished 3-4-5 in the 50 freestyle led by Alex Kohn's time of 28.57.

Padyn O'Keefe and Ana Kohout added points to the team total finishing fourth and fifth respectively in the 100 breaststroke.

The Bucs took third in both relays Sataurday. Kaylie Williams led the 200 medley relay team joining Valley StipeMaas, Natalie Gallagher and Lilly Calvert for a time of 2:29.18. In the 200 freestyle relay, the Beloit foursome of Kohn, McDougal, Williams and Bunzel shaved nearly 20 seconds off their seed time with their clocking of 1:55.32.

Up Next: The Buccaneers will host Ripon and North Central for a double-dual Saturday, November 10 beginning at 1 p.m. in Kresge Natatorium.
