GRINNELL, Iowa – The Beloit College Buccaneers swimming and diving teams opened the 2026 Midwest Conference Championships with a series of strong relay performances during the opening session of the 2026 MWC Swimming and Diving Championships. Competing at Grinnell College, the Buccaneers showcased their depth across both the men's and women's rosters.
Women's Relay Highlights
The Beloit women started their finals session with a seventh-place finish in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay. The team of
Kelsey Gerstler,
Lylah Murrah (North Pole, AK),
Maya Delgadillo (Sioux City, IA), and
Lucy Monnig (Beaverton, Ore.) touched the wall with a total time of 8:37.36. Sophomore Gerstler led the charge with an opening split of 2:05.99. She was followed by junior Murrah (2:08.11), freshman Delgadillo (2:13.12), and senior
Lucy Monnig (2:10.14).
Later in the evening, the women returned for the 200 Yard Medley Relay, securing a sixth-place finish with a time of 1:55.36. That relay featured
Lydia Nordgren (South Beloit, Ill.) (SO): 27.78 (Backstroke),
Norah Owens (Colorado Springs, Colo.) (FR): 33.00 (Breaststroke), Murrah (JR): 28.48 (Butterfly) and
Amelia Pullen (New Orleans, La.) (SR): 26.10 (Freestyle).
Men's Relay Highlights
On the men's side, the Buccaneers earned a seventh-place finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. The squad posted a final time of 1:48.00, led by a blazing anchor leg from
Jeremy Mueller (Loves Park, Ill.). The relay splits included
Liam Murphy (Minneapolis, Minn.) (FR): 28.78 (Backstroke),
Torin Schott (Fairfield, CT) (SO): 32.04 (Breaststroke),
Jordan Hodges (College Station, TX) (FR): 26.23 (Butterfly) and Mueller (JR): 20.95 (Freestyle).
At the conclusion of the Thursday events, the Beloit women sit in a tie for 6th place in the team standings with 58 points. The Buccaneer men currently hold the 7th position with 28 points.
Competition continues through February 22nd as the Buccaneers look to climb the leaderboard in the individual events.
Tomorrow's action kicks off at 10 am with the prelims of the 500 Freestyle, 200 IM, 50 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle Relay, Men's 1-meter diving and Women's 3-meter diving. The 5:30 pm session will feature the finals for those events.
