The Beloit College swimming and diving program hosted its first dual meet of the season Saturday. The Buccaneers fell to Lawrence 222-149 in Kresge Natatorium.
Two Buccaneer men's foursomes won relays at the meet.
Max Saladar,
George Carlson,
David Morris and
John Rose III combined for a top time of 1:50.30 in the 200-yard medley relay. Morris was joined by
Nathan Sill,
Tenajh Gaitor and
Camden Leonard for a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The combination came into the wall in 1:33.53 to win the event by more than four seconds.Â
Four Buc men registered first place finishes individually Saturday. Beloit went 1-2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle led by Sill's 22.94. Rose III and Morris were second and third just three-hundredths of a second apart. Matthew Shea recorded a time of 1:06.00 for first in the 100-yard backstroke, just eight-hundredths of a second ahead of Saladar. Gaitor bested the competition in the 100-yard butterfly stopping the clock in 55.93. Cam Leonard grabbed two golds touching first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:06.61 and a clocking of 50.76 in the 100 free.Â
Runner-up finishes for the Buc men include Saladar in the 200 free, Shea in the 1000 free and Gaitor in the 100 breaststroke.Â
Anna Bunzel bolstered the Buccaneer women's squad with a first place finish in the 100-yard backstroke registering a time of 1:10.92. Bunzel also swam the lead leg of Beloit's 200-yard medley relay pairing with
Padyn O'Keefe,
Gianna Perata and
Kaylie Williams for a runner-up time of 2:09.84. Williams also posted a second place finish individually with a time of 1:05.34 in the 100 free while O'Keefe was the runner-up in the 100 breaststroke stopping the clock in 1:22.58.Â
Up Next:The Bucs will head north for a double dual at Ripon featuring the hosting Red Hawks and North Central College.
