The Beloit College swimming and diving program hosted Knox College and Ripon College in a double dual at Nicholls Natatorium Saturday. Both the Buccaneers men and women topped the Prairie Fire and fell to the Red Hawks in the meet.
Ben Saladar and
Camden Leonard led the Buccaneer men with first place finishes at the meet. Saladar was tops in the 50 backstroke stopping the clock in 26.45. He also added second place points with a time of 50.10 in the 100 breaststroke. Leonard was the first to come into the wall in the 50 freestyle with a 22.74 clocking.
Tenajh Gaitor captured silver in two events including the 100 butterfly (56.25) and 100 breaststroke (1:03.79). Also registering runner-up finishes were Ben Chambers with a time of 28.50 in the 50 breaststroke and Ethan Caster with a time of 26.42 in the 50 butterfly.
On the women's side, Madeline Champeny-Johns and
Kaya Martin each secured a gold and silver while
Padyn O'Keefe was the runner-up in two races. Champeny-Johns was tops in the 50 fly with a clocking of 29.61 while adding a second-place time of 30.39 in the 50 back. Martin won the back stopping the clock in 30.16 and added her silver in the 100 free touching the wall in 58.98. O'Keefe's second-place finishes came in the 50 breaststroke (36.36) and 100 breastroke (1:18.24).
Maclaryn Leonard added another gold for the Bucs in the races with a top time of 26.33 in the 50 free. Nora Krytowiak was the runner-up in the 200 individual medley registering a time of 2:30.27.
Beloit's 400 freestyle relay squads were the first to touch with the men registering a time of 3:23.80 and the women putting up a 3:57.40 clocking. The 400 medley relay for the men was one of the closest races on the day with the Buc foursome coming in second with a time of 3:49.47, just .09 seconds behind the top finisher. The Beloit women were also second in the relay.
The Bucs' women's dive team swept the top three spots off the one meter board led by
Colleen Quinlivan's 163.10.
Helena Harrison scored 148.50 followed by
Elinore Kosak with 144.00 points.
