BELOIT, Wis. - Beloit's men's and women's swim team kicked off their 2022 season Saturday afternoon, with both teams falling to Lawrence University in a dual meet.
The Buccaneer men fell by a score of 121-54, despite winning three events.
Camden Leonard highlighted the day with a pair of first-place finishes, with wins in both the 50 freestyle (22.50) and 100 freestyle (50.48). Leonard also teamed up with Colin Bolger, Ben Saladar, and Ethan Casler to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:44.17, which was less than two seconds ahead of Lawrence.
Beloit's women's team earned five first-place finishes. Colleen Quinlivan won the one-meter diving competition with a score of 164, which was nearly 13 points more than teammate Helena Harrison, who took second place in that event. Maclaryn Leonard added a first-place finish in the 100 backstroke with a tie of 1:05.87, while Devin Cuffy-Bethel won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:15.92, which was four seconds ahead of the second-place swimmer.
Beloit will be in action again next weekend when they'll travel to Ripon College. That meet will begin at 1 p.m. at Willmore Center in Ripon, Wis.
