The Beloit College baseball team fell to the University of Chicago 5-2 on the road Tuesday in a game plagued by defensive miscues.
The Maroons took an early lead capitalizing on three Buc errors in the bottom of the second. Three hits mixed in the with the miscues led to three runs for Chicago.
Beloit responded, taking advantage of a Chicago error, with
Garrison Ferone plating
Matt Crandall on a sacrifice fly to left field.
Another Maroon error led to another Beloit run in the top of the sixth. Ferone reached on the miscue and came around to score later in the inning on a double from
Brett Kiger.
Chicago plated a pair in the bottom of the eighth for the final.
Matthew Souza and Kiger each registered a pair of hits to lead the Beloit offense.
Thomas Kosakowski suffered the loss on the mound scattering six hits and allowing just two earned runs in 6.2 innings of work.
