The Beloit College baseball split a twinbill at Monmouth College Saturday afternoon to open the three-game series against the Scots. The Buccaneers took the opener 5-0 before dropping the nightcap 6-5.
The Bucs scored five runs on eight hits in game one while shutting out the Fighting Scots' offense.
Aiden Phipps improved to 3-0 on the season tossing six innings of two-hit ball while striking out four.
Harvey Pena closed out the game with three innings of quality relief.

Drew Freitag pushed four runs across in the first three innings of play. Beloit's final run came in the eighth with
AJ Fitzpatrick taking off for third on the pitch. An errant throw had the speedster cruising home for the fifth run of the game.
Matt O'Leary led the Bucs' offense in game two going 2-for-3 in the batter's box with an RBI double and a solo homerun.
Eamon Burke suffered the loss on the mound in 5.2 innings of work.
