Softball Wraps Up Conference Slate at Ripon

The Beloit College softball team split the team's final conference doubleheader of the season beating Ripon 13-8 before falling to the Redhawks 7-6 on a walkoff in the nightcap.

The Buccaneer offense was rolling in game one scoring multiple runs four innings. Beloit took a lead in the game in the second after plating four runs. With bases loaded Isabel Johnson was hit by a pitch to bring in the first run of the game. Maddie Moser grounded into a fielder's choice that plated another and then a series of wild pitches brought in two more to make it 4-0.

Ripon responded with three in the third but a Sidda Meyers RBI double and a Stephannie Lopez RBI groundout extended the gap to 6-3.

The Redhawks plated a pair in the fourth to pull to within one but Beloit responded with three in the sixth and then four in the seventh courtesy of hits from Kit Kronberger, Kaitlynn Taft, Meyers and Emily Stapay along with a groundout and a Ripon error.

Kronberger was 2-3 with a RBI and two runs scored while Meyers also posted a pair of hits in the game adding two RBI and two runs scored.

Maddy Pfortmiller picked up the win striking out five in the complete game in the circle.

Kronberger continued to have a day at the plate in game two going 2-3 with a double and a homerun for a pair of RBI and a run scored. Angela Donath added a 2-3 performance in the batter's box with a RBI and a run scored.

Kronberger's RBI double that plated Donath in the fourth tallied the first run of the game. In the next inning a fielder's choice coupled with a Ripon error brought in two more followed by a perfectly executed squeeze play with Lopez at bat to push the lead to 4-0.

A two-RBI double for Ripon in the fifth cut the lead in half but Kronberger had the response with a solo blst in the sixth. Sydney Harbison followed with a RBI doulbe to right center in the inning to give the Bucs a four-run advantage.

Ripon's offense got on a roll in the bottom of the frame plating four to knot the game 6-6. A leadoff homer for the home squad in the bottom of the seventh ended the game.

Helena Harrison suffered the loss in an inning in the circle. Cora Aubert registered the start allowing a pair of earned runs in five innings in the circle.

Beloit finishes the 2022 conference slate with a 7-9 record to hold fifth in the league standings. The top four in the conference advance to the Midwest Conference tournament.
