The Beloit College baseball team took the field under the lights at ABC Supply Stadium, home of the Beloit Sky Carp, Tuesday evening. The Buccaneers fell to Rockford University 3-0.
Instead of a 13-inning thriller like the previous meeting between these two squads, Tuesday's matchup was a defensive and pitching duel. Both teams had a number of stellar plays on the defensive side of the ball while offense was hard to come by.
The Regents got their offense going a bit in the third as a leadoff hit batter led to a run on a RBI single later in the frame for the 1-0 lead. That was all Rockford would need for the win.
Beloit registered four hits, including two from
Drew Freitag, and drew four walks but left seven baserunners stranded.
Both teams used five pitchers in the contest with
Thomas Kosakowski suffering the loss allowing the single run in the third and scattering four hits acrosse five innings of work while striking out four.
