APPLETON, Wis. - Yesterday the Beloit College Swimming & Diving teams kicked off the season with a dual meet at Lawrence University. Strong showings on both the men's and women's side were capped off by 5 new school records. The women went on to defeat the Vikings 145-80 while the men fell 48-134.
Women:
Helena Harrison (Chapel Hill, N.C.) set school records in both the 1m dive (for 6 dives) and the 3m dive (for 6 dives). She scored a 210.00 in the 1m, beating the second place diver by nearly 50 points. She was the only diver to score in the 3m, with a score of 204.65.
Other winners for the women included
Nora Krystowiak (Kenosha, Wis.) in the 200 and 500 freestyle, with times of 2.15:22 and 5:59.64.
Maclaryn Leonard (South Beloit, Ill.) in the 50 free at 26.38 and 100 backstroke (1:05.70).
Lylah Murrah (North Pole, AK) in the 200 IM with a time of 2:26.26 and the 100 breaststroke at 1:13.81.
Amelia Pullen (New Orleans, La.) in the 100 freestyle (1:00.52). The Buccaneers' also defeated the Vikings in the 200 Freestyle relay. Pullen,
Chelsea Woletz (Milton, Wis.), Murrah and Leonard combined for a sub 2, 1:51.37 race.
Men:
On the men's side, they also saw records broken.
Jeremy Mueller broke three school records in the 1000 Free (10:13.50), 200 IM (1:59.32), and the 500 Free (4:5212).
The Buccaneers will host their first home meet of the 23-24 season on Saturday, November 4th when they host Ripon. The meet will start at 1 p.m. in the Robert G. Nicholls Natatorium located in the Powerhouse on Beloit's campus.
