BELOIT, Wis. - The Beloit College swimming program hosted its annual Mid Season Invitational this weekend, welcoming teams from Ripon College, Monmouth College, and Illinois College for a three-day competition that showcased both individual talent and team depth across multiple events.
Leading the way for the Buccaneers was freshman
Lydia Nordgren (South Beloit, Ill.), who delivered a standout performance in multiple events. Posting school records in both events, Nordgren captured first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.19 seconds and dominated the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall at 58.42 seconds. Her versatility and speed make her a swimmer to watch as the season progresses.
The diving competition provided another bright spot for Beloit, with
Helena Harrison (Chapel Hill, N.C.) and
Elsa Gregory securing the top two positions in the women's 1-meter diving event. Harrison, a senior, posted yet another record-breaking score of 404.90 points, while Gregory, a sophomore, followed closely with 380.75 points. With that mark, Harrison has secured a spot in diving regionals.Â
Jeremy Mueller (Machesney Park, Ill.) continued to be a bright spot for Beloit's men, claiming victory in both the 100-yard freestyle (46.66) and the 100-yard butterfly (51.60). His performances were particularly impressive given the strong competition from Monmouth College, which ended the night in first place.Â
Day three continues with another round of prelims this morning, followed by the finals starting at 4:30 pm this afternoon.Â
