JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Yesterday afternoon the Beloit College Swim and Dive teams competed against the Illinois College Blue Boys and Lady Blues in an MWC dual. The Buccaneer women defeated the Lady Blues, 125-92 to move to 4-1 on the season. The Men fell to the Blue Boys 48-159.
On the women's side,
Maclaryn Leonard (South Beloit, Ill.) and
Lydia Nordgren (South Beloit, Ill.) delivered impressive performances for Beloit. Leonard captured first place in both the 100-yard freestyle (57.92) and the 50-yard backstroke (30.06). Nordgren showed her versatility by winning the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.72 and later securing another victory in the 50-yard butterfly (27.76).
Lylah Murrah (North Pole, AK) also contributed significantly to Beloit's women's team, winning the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:06.44 and placing first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.33).
The Beloit women's team demonstrated their relay strength by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of
Nora Krystowiak (Kenosha, Wis.), Nordgren, Leonard, and
Kelsey Gerstler finished with a time of 1:49.23.
For the men,
Jeremy Mueller (Machesney Park, Ill.) led the way, securing three first-place finishes. Mueller dominated the sprint events, winning the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.07 seconds, the 50-yard backstroke in 25.40 seconds, and the 50-yard butterfly in 23.85 seconds. Following just behind in the 50-yard butterfly was
Ethan Casler (Mundelein, Ill.), touching the wall in 26.73.
The Buccaneers don't return to the pool until the new year. They head to Monmouth, Ill. on Friday, January 17th for a clash with the Fighting Scots.
