GRINNELL, IA. - The Beloit College Swimming and Diving teams have spent the last three days in Grinnell, Iowa competing at the 2024 Midwest Conference Championships.
As a team, the Buccaneers broke ten school records and one Midwest Conference Meet record.
Jeremy Mueller (Machesney Park, Ill.) capped off his historic freshman season by breaking four school records and one meet record. He was also named the 2024 Men's Newcomer of the Year. He was crowned the MWC Champion in the 100 Free and 200 Free. Along with his MWC crown, he broke his own school record in both races, swimming a 45.22 in the 100 and a 1:40.17 in the 200. He broke his own record in the 50 Free (21.04) and the school record 100 Back (50.70). The 100 Free was also a new MWC Meet record.
Helena Harrison (Chapel Hill, N.C.) continued to prove herself on the board, taking home the MWC Women Diver of the Year award and earned the title of MWC Champion in the 1M with a score of 378.55. She also broke the Beloit 3M 11 dive record with a score of 369.25.
Three women relay records were broken over the weekend as well.
Amelia Pullen (New Orleans, La.),
Chelsea Woletz (Milton, Wis.),
Abbey Scott (Oswego, Ill.), and
Maclaryn Leonard (South Beloit, Ill.) combined to swim a 1:44.23 in the 200 Free Relay to break the school record. Leonard,
Lylah Murrah (North Pole, AK), Scott and Pullen broke the 400 Medley with a 4:16.45. Finally, Leonard, Murrah, Scott and Woletz set the school record of 1:55.28. Individually Leonard broke her own 100 and 200 backstroke records with times of 1:02.69 and 2:16.24.
This concludes the 2023-24 Beloit College Swimming and Diving season.
