BELOIT, WI – Beloit College's swimming and diving teams hosted Lawrence University this afternoon in a tightly contested match up. The Men fell by the slightest of margins, 71-76, while the Women would have needed more (92-107). 
In the men's distance events, Beloit's Liam Murphy (Minneapolis, Minn.) dominated the 1000 Yard Freestyle, securing a decisive victory with a time of 12:13.81. Murphy also proved his versatility by taking first place in the 200 Yard Backstroke (2:26.90) and placing second in the 200 Yard IM.
The men's sprint events were highlighted by Jeremy Mueller (Loves Park, Ill.), who clinched first in both the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:47.56) and the 50 Yard Freestyle (22.59). Mueller continued his winning streak in the 200 Yard Butterfly, adding another top finish for Beloit. Teammate Torin Schott (Fairfield, CT) also performed well in the sprints, placing second in the 50 Yard Freestyle (24.93) and the 100 Yard Freestyle (58.36), and second in the 200 Yard Breaststroke (2:47.84).
Beloit's women's team also had notable individual successes. Kelsey Gerstler led the charge, winning the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 12:09.52 and the 200 Yard IM (2:31.90). In the shorter freestyle events, Amelia Pullen (New Orleans, La.) secured a first-place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle (59.13) and a second-place finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle. Norah Owens (Colorado Springs, Colo.) contributed with a second-place finish in the 200 Yard Breaststroke (2:55.09).
The diving events were a strong point for Beloit. Elsa Gregory delivered an impressive performance, taking first place in the Women's 1 meter Diving with a score of 191.40 and the Women's 3 meter Diving with 189.70 points. Jacob Fuller (Beloit, Wis.) also performed admirably in the men's diving, placing second in both the 1 meter and 3 meter events.
In the relays, Beloit College's women's 200 Yard Medley Relay team, comprised of Maya Delgadillo (Sioux City, IA), Owens, Pullen, and Lylah Murrah (North Pole, AK), secured a second-place finish with a time of 2:11.81.
The Buccaneers swim out of their own water for the first time on November 8th when they head to the Gene Davis Invite in Appleton, Wisconsin. Action from the Boldt Natatorium on Lawrence University's campus is set to start at 11 am.
