Swimming and Diving Competes at Wisconsin Private College Championships

KENOSHA, WI – Over a thrilling two-day weekend at Carthage College, the Beloit College Buccaneers swimming and diving teams delivered a standout performance at the 2026 Wisconsin Privates Championship. Competing against a deep field of regional rivals including Carthage, St. Norbert, and MSOE, the Buccaneers secured multiple individual titles and top-five team rankings.

By the conclusion of the meet on January 31, the Beloit women captured 5th place overall with 59 points, while the men's squad powered their way to a 4th place finish with 47 points.

The weekend was highlighted by two spectacular individual championships. On the men's side, Jeremy Mueller (Loves Park, Ill.) proved his dominance in the 200-yard Individual Medley. Mueller touched the wall at 1:57.28, fending off a tough challenge from Carthage's Tyson Politsch to take the gold. Mueller also added a strong 4th-place finish in the 100-yard Breaststroke (1:02.54).

On the women's side, Lydia Nordgren (South Beloit, Ill.) showcased her speed in the 100-yard Butterfly. Nordgren outpaced the field with a time of 1:00.52 to claim the top spot on the podium. She remained a force throughout the meet, also securing a 9th-place finish in the 100-yard Freestyle (57.96) and anchoring several key relays.

Beloit's diving contingent was spearheaded by Elsa Gregory, who provided a massive points boost for the women's team. Gregory earned a silver medal in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 319.40 and followed it up with a bronze-medal performance in the 1-meter event (302.00). On the men's side, Jacob Fuller (Beloit, Wis.) was a dual-threat on the boards, placing 7th in the 3-meter and 9th in the 1-meter.

The Buccaneers' depth was on full display during the relay events. The women's 400-yard Freestyle Relay team (Kelsey Gerstler, Lylah Murrah (North Pole, AK), Amelia Pullen (New Orleans, La.), and Nordgren) battled to a 4th-place finish with a time of 3:59.03. Additionally, the women's 200-yard Medley Relay team secured 5th place (2:02.73), underscoring the team's balanced talent across all strokes.

The Buccaneers head to De Pere next Saturday for a double-dual with St. Norbert and Lake Forest. Action from the Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center at 1 pm.
