BELOIT, Wis. - Over the weekend, some of Beloit's best headed to bigger meets to test their luck against big time competition. On Friday,
Nate Otis (Shoreview, Minn.) took his talents to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa while
Dylan Malmgren (Loves Park, Ill.) ran at the Kip Jarvin Open on Saturday in Indanola, Iowa.
Malgren had a record-breaking showing in the 5k, clocking in at 14:54.77a. His time breaks the school record of 14:57.34 set back in 1994. This marks the third school record Malmgren has broken this year (Indoor 5K, Outdoor 5K and outdoor 10K).
Otis faced his toughest competition of the season at the Drake Relays. Otis clocked in at 52.98, good enough for 10th place. More importantly, he was the second-fastest Division III runner, placing behind the national leader.
Both will continue to build heading into the final stretch of the season. Midwest Conference Championships are set for May 8th and 9th in Mt. Vernon, Iowa.
