The Buccaneer women's lacrosse team had a solid first half but were stifled in the second leading to a 9-3 loss to Cornell College Saturday evening at Strong Stadium.
The Rams opened the scoring less than two minutes into the contest before an offensive lull had the fans waiting more than 12 minutes for another score.
The next goal would tie the game as
Olivia Farbarik found
Katrina Sanchez for the equalizer with 1:01 on the clock. With just six seconds left in the first quarter, Beloit took the lead with Farbarik beating the Rams' keeper on an unassisted score.
Chloe Hain and
May Willison teamed up for another Buccaneer goal in the second quarter but the Rams were able to put up four in the period to take a 5-3 lead into the intermission.
Cornell added to their lead in the second half while stifling the Bucs' offense along the way for the final.
Suzanne Healy led the Buc defense with seven groundballs.
Paige Airaudi, Willison and
Johanna McNair each tallied three caused turnovers.
Sofia Jeddeloh matched the program saves record she set in the last contest with 27 Saturday.
